I’m excited to share a new rendition of the beloved hymn Be Thou My Vision — one that I’ve reimagined through the lens of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Ego State Therapy, while remaining grounded in a deeply Catholic understanding of the human person.
When I began writing these lyrics, my goal was to honor the timeless beauty of the traditional Irish hymn while bringing in insights about the soul’s inner world and its relationship with a loving God. This song is, in many ways, a meditation on the Father’s love and the deep healing that happens when we allow Him to meet us in every part of ourselves.
My son, Ben Crete, produced, arranged, and performed the song. His vision was to create a soundscape that invites the listener into prayer — beginning in quiet introspection and slowly building in intensity. I’m so grateful for the beauty he brought to this project.
This hymn continues the creative journey that began with the Litanies of the Heart prayers and later, my book Litanies of the Heart: Relieving Post-traumatic Stress and Calming Anxiety Through Healing Our Parts, published by Sophia Institute Press. It’s another expression of the mission we pursue together at Souls and Hearts — to bring healing and wholeness to the human person through faith and psychology, in harmony.
I hope this song draws you into deeper reflection and union with the Lord, who sees every part of you with love.
